President Hoover accused over naval delay in Senate clash
Senator Swanson of Virginia assailed Hoover for postponing three cruisers in the 15 cruiser program amid Britain US talks. He warned delay hurts parity with Britain and urged adherence to law and faster construction unless Congress acts. He cited British plans to delay scrapping and reduce fleet, stressing need for substantial equality in cruisers.
