Deadline Extended For Free Government Cotton Classing
The Agricultural Marketing Service announces an extension of the final date for free cotton classing applications to August 15 due to delayed planting. Applications must be sent to the Agricultural Marketing Service in Austin, Texas, with instructions and forms available locally. If a government loan is announced, the classing memorandum may be accepted for loan purposes and members need not pay an extra fee.

Small Farmers Get Bulk Of AAA Payments
A Texas study of 1939 AAA records shows three-fourths of payments went to small farms. Most disbursements were under 100 dollars with few between 5 000 and 10 000, and the per‑recipient cap remains 10 000 dollars. Johnson Grass Bermuda Hailed As Farmers Friend
Bermuda and Johnson grass, once feared, are praised for erosion control and soil health on Texas farms. Analyses of 1432 samples show Bermuda top in spring protein at 8 percent, with Johnson grass high as well.
