Wet weekend rains brought relief to Gillespie County with Fredericksburg totals at 2.20 inches and countywide up to 3.20 inches in some areas. The broader region notes this is the first substantial moisture since December 24, leaving Fredericksburg about 1.45 inches behind last year’s year to date and 1.83 inches short of the three month norm. In Gillespie County's two major elections, Fredericksburg voters re-elected Mayor Sidney M. Henke and incumbents Pat Pyka and Ewald Geistweidt to the city commission. New FISD trustees Melvin Bonn and Theo Lindig led in their race, while other districts elected Werner Durst, James Baethge, Max Hartmann, and local winners to the Gillespie County School Board. turnout totaled 846 for the FISC contest, with 524 votes in the city race and swearing-in set for April 30.

A Hill Country Rodeo Queen will be crowned at 6 30 p m at the Hill Country Rodeo Arena just before the 7 30 p m rodeo. Three age groups seniors 14 18 juniors 10 13 and peewees under 9 compete with events and belt buckles awarded to winners. The Lester Meier Rodeo Company of Fredericksburg produces the event with Oliver Rode as chairman and HCHC members assisting.
