A light rain and wind alter plans as social visits, fundraising and renovations unfold at Acme Bottle works and Kaffee Klatsch gatherings.
Mrs Emil Wahrmund Jr entertained the Needlecraft Society at her home on Wednesday afternoon. The usual program was followed by the ladies who enjoyed refreshments of cake cookies sandwiches and hot chocolate served to the guests.
A Monday courthouse meeting nominated four incumbents for the Indepen dent School District of Fredericksburg. Re nominated trustees R G Striegler Albert Koennecke Ed G Oehler and A H Welgehausen face election today as all district trustees elections occur nationwide. A good rain fell north and northwest of Fredericksburg on Wednesday morning extending beyond Loyal Valley. Additional showers benefited crops and the range in nearby sections. A very hard rain was recorded at Johnson City.
A contract this week for a handsome new residence to be erected in the Henke addition for Mr. Louis G. Eckert. The brick and tile home will have eight rooms and a hall, built in modern style, costing about 4000 dollars. Wood work was awarded to Chas Klaerner and brick laying to Harry H McFarland of Boerne. Construction started early this week and will become a beautiful, comfortable Fredericksburg home.
At a Sunday meeting, the Sons of Herman and Ladies Lodges agreed to hold a joint picnic at Alfred Klaerner's on Live Oak on May 20. The ladies will prepare baskets and the men will provide beverages. The event, usually annual, is favored by members and families of both lodges.
Fredericksburg plans a robust baseball season with pitching ace Robi Lee leading the staff. Returnees Bonn Lchuch Reichenau Kiaerner and others form a solid nucleus, while Walter Kiaerner is named manager with assistants Max Stehling and L. H. Krauskopf.

A wedding supper followed as gifts and good wishes poured in. A culvert near Burnet Road was destroyed by fire last Sunday due to possible spontaneous combustion from nearby trash. Loss described as of no material consequence.
Miss Sophie Braeutigam received a linen shower Friday evening at the home of Miss Martha Herbert. White and green decor adorned the room, gifts stacked in a corner tied with ribbon, followed by a two course luncheon enjoyed by the guests.
Fredericksburg High School pupils staged Deacon Dubbs at Klaerner's Opera House last Saturday. The cast delivered strong performances with funny climaxes earning praise from a large crowd. Door receipts totaled 127.00, benefiting the school athletic association.

Washington April 4 The U S Senate passed the war resolution declaring a state of war with Germany by 82 to 6. The substitute to declare war on sinking another American ship failed without a roll call. House debate set for tomorrow at 10 o clock. Negative votes by Grenna LaFollette Norris Lane Stone and Vardaman.

They report intense pressure on General Carranza from both sides, while Carranza himself has not committed to either policy though he seeks to curb military excesses.
