A Romantic poem fragment from Mrs Hemans praising a radiant unreachable domain beyond death. The verses speak of children seeking the better land, contrasting earthly places with distant heavenly shores, and insist the land lies beyond clouds and tomb, unseen by eye or ear.
Mr Brain defends himself against a report in the Globe alleging a design to assassinate Mr Ingham and a conspiracy. He questions why the alleged band was not organized during the war and seeks to present explanations to the public.
The correspondence between M M Berrien and President Jackson details Berrien’s formal resignation as attorney general of the United States. He explains he stayed to fulfill unfinished duties, notes his acceptance was in obedience to the president’s wishes, and expresses continued good wishes for the administration. Jackson replies with approval and instructs to retain duties until a successor is appointed. Public release of the correspondence is proposed.
