Almanac forecasts warmer Pacific, La Niña could ease heat
The almanac projects an abnormal warming of South American waters and a very warm year for the United States driven by El Niño. It predicts a Showier winter for 1998-99 with variable precipitation, possible cooling if volcanic activity rises, and notes ongoing jet-stream shifts affecting Frederick area weather.
