Teachers Seek Ways to Motivate Students Toward College
Frederick Community College professors and high school teachers propose initiatives to boost student effort and bridge classes to college. They cite students’ failure to push beyond minimum requirements, the need for advisement and consistent messaging, and the risk of remedial math and writing courses after graduation. Potential ideas include mentoring, connecting 18-year-olds with FCC, and curricula that improve writing transfer across subjects.
