The Frederick News Post shows March events across Frederick and surrounding counties. Exhibits at the Weinberg Center and Mount St. Mary's pull focus alongside a series of dances and socials at venues like the VFW posts and Western Inn. Major shows include Picasso works at Phillips Collection and European masters at Walters Art Museum with multiple openings and receptions.
The Historical Society of Frederick County releases a revised two-volume edition of The Diary of Jacob Engelbrecht. Covering 1819 to mid-19th century Frederick County life, the diaries include marriages births and deaths and reflect careful historical editing to aid modern readers and genealogists. Editors preserved sources and German passages while adding unpublished material, with Jack Terry and Paul Gordon contributing substantial transcription and line-by-line work.
A downtown Frederick dining spot on North Market Street offers both American and Irish dishes. The Bushwaller family opened the restaurant in 1981. Michael Long and family bought it in 1997. Highlights include crab dip, Irish potato skins, Corey's Calamari, Irish omelet, bangers and mash, and Dublin lawyer lobster pasta. Prices range from about 5 to 22 dollars. The pub emphasizes a friendly atmosphere with Guinness and Irish flags.
Frederick area groups announce a March schedule of events including Theodore Stephens Honors Awards for Black History Month at Frederick High School on March 19 at 2 30 pm. Other items: pet adoptions at Frederick Towne Mall March 10 1 to 4 pm. Frederick Knucklers marbles team practice Saturdays 8 30 to 11 00 am at Middletown Town Hall. Frederick County Genealogical Society meets March 9 at 1 pm at Homewood Crumland Farms. Positively Single Christian singles gathering March 8 with Christine Maccabee concert. Ravens Nest 3, a Baltimore Ravens support group in Frederick, will meet Wednesday March 13 at 7 pm at Uptown Sports Lounge 611 N Market St. The nonprofit offers scholarship help to Frederick County high school football players.
