Chess fascination reaches Valley Elementary in Jefferson
Valley Elementary School in Jefferson hosts a growing chess group for children about eight years old on Friday mornings. Players range from street people to the wealthy, with teens and twenty somethings often among the brightest. Mr Summers travels the mid Atlantic states for tournaments. Chess spurs concentration and lively talks about moves at the Spirit Art Gallery. Timers click repeatedly as timed games shorten durations. Summers notes players are competitive and often hooked by the game. For more information call 301-695-4427 or visit chess sites listed.
