President Hanley spoke on The Great European War and its interpretation, stressing education as world citizenship and the entangling European alliances. He outlined causes of the war including alliance systems and economic clashes with Mediterranean outlets.
The Franklin College paper The Franklin will be the club’s focus this year with plans for a successful weekly issue. Five members per organization will join based on journalistic interest, aiming for Indiana Press Association affiliation and a large year end feed for members and friends.

In a Friday gathering students shared songs and fellowship. Everyone spoke to each other to confirm they sang together and recognized shared effort. Ise and cakes were served with goldenrod favors.
Webster Literary Society held a reception for new students in Webster Hall Tuesday evening with Professor and Mrs. Clark as chaperons. Guests enjoyed music and readings.
