U S O Drive Reaches Quota in Franklin Campaign

Large Crowd Sees 29 Men Leave Franklin for Induction
A Friday morning crowd at the Franklin bus station watched 29 men depart for Fort Jackson induction. Kelley Houston arrived with a broken arm and will join the next group. Floyd Vance missed the bus due to an accident and will also enter with the subsequent group. Navy enlistment interrupted Leonel Meadows prior induction. Woman's Business Circle handed out service kits and testimonents, with committee members Lola Barrington Ly man Higdon and R. Gar son coordinating. Joe Ashear bid farewell after the bus left, offering oranges for the trip.

Local boards announce starting July 10 1982 every inducted man will be granted a fourteen day furlough at the induction station unless he opts not to return home. The furlough lets inducted men go home for two weeks before entering full service.
