W L Ramsey dies. noted farmer and leader
W L Ramsey a prominent farmer and longtime community leader in Iota died at home after a heart attack at age 59. He served on Macon County commissioners and education board, helped build the Jolin Methodist church, and was first superintendent of the state prison camp in Asheville. Survived by widow, two children, a foster son, sister, and brother. Funeral at Totla Methodist Church Saturday, burial in church cemetery.

Town's New Well Near 50 Gallons Per Minute
A test on the Dan Bryson property in East Franklin shows the deep well should yield about 45 to 50 gallons per minute. At 500 feet depth the town had the well extended by 15 to 20 feet and a Tuesday test aimed to boost supply by roughly one third. Previously the town faced water shortages during summers.
