County Votes 1.60 Tax Rate With 10 Cent Increase
County commissioners Baldwin Brown and Roane plan for the 1958-59 budget as the property tax is raised to 1.60 per hundred dollars of valuation. The dime increase funds current expenses and capital outlay with schools receiving the additional revenue. Judge Patton Takes Oath In Raleigh Monday Morning
Patton was sworn in as judge of the Seventh Judicial District in Raleigh on Monday morning. Governor Luther Modges appointed Patton to serve the interim term until December 1938. Judge Carlie W. Bo Norton, 25, former Franklin High basketball and football letterman and a Forest Service ranger in Hot Springs, died in a Sunday early morning crash on NC 200 near Hot Springs.
