Funeral services for A B Brown held at Sealy Baptist
Funeral services for A B Brown were conducted Tuesday at Sealy Baptist Church with Rev Ostar Nix officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Douglas Buings, Hugh Dryman, Raymond Penland, James Miller, Ed Vinson, and Frank Dryman. Bryant Funeral Home in charge. Surviving are his widow Jessie Chastain of Dillard Ga, two sons James and Oscar Brown of Sealy, and four daughters Mrs Jessie McCall, Mrs Ida Houston of Gnela, Mrs Tommy Lee and Mrs Helen Brown of Sealy.

Macon Man Drowns While Fishing Tap Of Macon Men Women
Joan William McCoy a 30 year old farmer of the Gneiss community in Transylvania County was drowned in the French Broad river Monday. His body found Tuesday morning after a large search involving firemen from Hendersonville and Tragasville. McCoy who suffered epilepsy likely fell in during an attack. He was a Pine Grove Baptist member. Survivors include a son James Baward McCoy of Franklin a daughter Dorothy La Conley of Franklin a brother S D McCoy of Glenville and sisters Mrs Henderson of Brevard and Mrs Bula Hetry of Big. Funeral held at Walnut Creek Baptist Church with burial in church cemetery. Brevard Junior College listed among area alumni and Brevard College.

Methodist Bible School To Open Monday Morning
The Franklin Church announces a vacation Bible school starting next Monday at 9 o clock with leaders Mrs Zeb Donley for beginners Mrs Ray Hemphill for Juniors and Miss Mozell McCormack for intermediates. A benefit square dance follows at Otto school tonight at 8 with the Keener string band providing music.

Youth Worker Employed By Church Here
The Franklin Methodist church has employed a youth worker for the summer season. Miss Mozelle McCormick of Mount Airy was selected for the position and assumed her duties last Sunday. The effort to appoint a director of religious education began with the Wesleyan Service Guild and the plan was approved by the board of stewards. The project was funded by World Sunday School, other organizations, individuals, and Carson's Chapel parishioners. Miss McCormick is staying at the home of Mr and Mrs Allen Siler.

Stewart will become highway engineer for the division July 1, succeeding John C. Walker. Walker, district engineer with headquarters in Asheville, has directed construction of every state highway in this end of the state for 26 years. Walker exchanges places with Stewart, becoming eighth division engineer with headquarters at North Wilkesboro. The shift is part of a statewide reassignment of all 10 division engineers announced in Raleigh. Nine of 10 receive new assignments. the tenth is to retire and be succeeded by his former assistant.
