Graduates Honor Largest Class At Western Carolina Teachers College
Sixty six four year seniors and eight percent of two year normal graduates received diplomas at Western Carolina Teachers College Tuesday morning. J M Broughton of Raleigh delivered the literary address. Graduates hailed from thirty or more counties and three states, led by Osceola Everett and Beatrice Mozeley of Highlands Otto. Franklin area representation included many students. Local residents Mrs Kenneth Hodges and son visited relatives, while Florence and Blaun Henson and sisters spent time with Franklin family.

Sloan Boys Finish School in One Week
Mr and Mrs Neville Sloan celebrate two sons graduating in one week. William Neville Sloan earned a B A in government and economics from the University of North Carolina on June 8. George Bidwell Sloan will graduate from West Point and receive a commission as second lieutenant with three months leave before reporting to Randolph Field for aviation training. Azaleas Blooming On Wayah Bald
Visitors to Wayah Bald in the Nantahala National Forest will find vast azalea beds in full bloom atop the mountain. Varieties range from fragrant white to common flame, including a rare scarlet. CCC workers planted laurels and azaleas along the drive to boost scenery. Scaffolding around the John Byrne memorial tower has been removed for inspection, with observation views spanning four states and the Great Smokies, Unaka, Nantahala, and Blue Ridge ranges.
