Delegates for the Raleigh state Democratic convention will be chosen at a Macon County meeting Saturday at 2 p.m. The vote totals show Walter Gibson leading Democratic candidates for commissioner with 812 votes, followed by Gus Leach and Erwin W. Long. Ehringhaus led the statewide gubernatorial contest with 161,385 votes. Fountain carried Macon but trailed statewide.

Workers Plan School Here for Women Workers
Representatives of the Southern Summer School for Women Workers will hold a sixth session in Franklin from June 21 to August 3. About 40 women from 13 southern cities in five states will attend, drawn from textile, tobacco, garment, hosiery and related industries. The program, unique in the South, is backed by educators from southern states with Miss Mary C. Baker of Atlanta as chairman and Mrs. Louise Leonard McLaren of Baltimore as director.

Macon Red Cross Receives Second Flour Shipment
The Macon Red Cross received its second car load of flour on Monday afternoon, totaling 1,760 bags, following the first shipment of 1,880 bags. Miss Elizabeth Kelly, chairman, oversees distribution as the Red Cross continues aid to poorer county residents with flour, seeds, and clothing.

Three Teams Join County Baseball League In Macon County
More than 50 players and fans from eight communities met at the courthouse to organize a Macon County League. Frank Ray presides, John Edwards is secretary. Life Abundant Leader To Hold Free Clinic
Beginning Saturday June 18 a free health clinic for digestive disorders and malnutrition will be conducted at St Agnes Episcopal Church in Franklin under Rev Robert B H Bell head of the Life Abundant movement. Dr Bell will be assisted by his wife a dietitian Miss Vida Butt a trained nurse and Dr W A Rogers Franklin physician. The event aims to help pellagra undernourished children expectant mothers and babies with guidance on feeding and care. A Tuesday Life Abundant class will be at St Agnes afterward open to the public.

The Old Maids Convention, staged at Totla School on May 28, will be presented again at 7 p m Saturday June 1 in Franklin Court House.
