Franklin Board Eyes Open Street From Main To Palmer
Franklin board of aldermen discussed granting right of way over federal property to open a 30 foot street from Main Street to Palmer Street just east of the post office building. Mayor Henry W Cabe said grading and paving could occur before summer to ease heavy traffic.

A council construction committee report estimates Macon homeowners will spend about 150000 on repairs this year. It notes roots to be repaired or replaced in about one sixth of homes, carpentry work in roughly one in five, and plumbing in one in five homes. The survey compares costs to 1949 and cites cheaper wholesale building materials. It also says homeowners may demand materials like clay tile and cites national expenditures for home repair and modernization around 2.35 billion dollars for the year.

Macon County schools choose Franklin firm for excavation
The Macon County board of education accepted Macon Construction Company of Franklin for excavation on four school sites East Franklin Highlands Nantahala and Franklin.
