Many Injured in Accidents at Christmas Time
The Christmas holiday brought numerous injury cases to Angel hospital mainly from automobile crashes. Victims included Joe Pintillo with a severe right hand injury from a firecracker, Kurt Townsend with a leg burn from a gasoline container, Ed Rogers with an elbow fracture from a collision, Gene Thomas with chest injuries from a truck impact, Ben Gibson driving the truck, Dick Slagle with an eye injury from a side swipe, and CCC Camp workers Bill Whitlock, Glen Hooper, Oren Ashe, and Weaver Sorrells treated for head injuries or other trauma. All are expected to recover.

Hospital News Briefs From Angel Hospital
Mrs. M D Bulings was discharged after a week for an infected eye and is much improved. Mrs. Fred Higdon had an operation Saturday and was sent home Monday. Mary Louise Warst had an operation Tuesday morning with satisfactory condition. Miss Charlotte Deweese of Asne ville underwent a Tuesday operation. Don McKinney had three sinus operations last Friday. Mrs. C L Fonts of Winston Salem, formerly of the soda section, underwent a Monday operation. Mrs. Tom Justice of trypmosa is a patient under treatment.

Higdon Buys Out Interests In Franklin Hardware Company
A. R. Higdon manager of the Franklin Hardware Company incorporated has bought out the interests of Mrs RM Hudson and John B Henry. Higdon gains full control of the business dealing in hardware timber and building materials with a saw and planing operation. He said no definite plans for future course or personnel changes have been formulated.

Christmas Party Delights 400 Macon County Children
Four hundred Macon County children received gifts at a county courthouse Christmas party sponsored by Macon County Post No. 108 of the American Legion. More than $100 was raised by legion members and Franklin residents to fund the event. Gilmer A. Jones presided, Rev. J. A. Flanagan spoke, and a carol program lit the afternoon as Barbara Stockton sang. Each child got a candy bag with oranges and an apple, some stockings, and pencil scratch pads. Santa was aided by Franklin boy scouts in distributing presents to youngsters from across the county who traveled to town for the celebration.

Funeral Held for Lawrence Shepherd in Oak Grove
Funeral services for Lawrence Shepherd 44 of Oak Grove were held at Show Hill Mission Baptist Church after his fatal injury while dismounting a stone-hauling truck on Highway Now 246 near Last iid. He served in World War I with the 120th Infantry, France, from Aug 31 to Sept 29 1918. Surviving are his widow Miss Hate Rhine Inst of Oak Grove four children a step-daughter and his parents five sisters and five brothers. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Hunter Fires at Poindexter in Woodland Shooting
Poindexter, 20, was hit by shotgun pellets while hunting in Burningtown woods on Christmas Eve. Claude Ashe, another hunter, mistook him for a turkey and fired. sixteen shots lodged in his heel but the injury was not serious. He returned home after treatment by Franklin physician.
