Federation to Pay Dividend in North Carolina
More than 3 500 Federation stockholders will share a 3 percent semi annual dividend to be paid January 1. Dividends for common stock are cash through warehouses while preferred shares will be by check. The board also paid tribute to Vance A Browning who directed educational activities and died November 16 in Raleigh. Caldwell County unit expansion progress noted with a new 18th warehouse at Lenoir planned for January.

Ant Club Aids Needy Colored Children In Macon
At a regular Ant club meeting at the A M E Zion parsonage members boxed gifts for the needy. They discussed selling a club quilt to raise funds. Sponsor H K Kemp Jr contributed 35.03 from the club savings, started August 5 1938, with individual gifts from 10 cents to 3 60. War on Paralysis Drives Roosevelt Birthday Fund Drive
A county committee led by C C Potts mobilizes volunteers to celebrate President Roosevelt's birthday on January 30 to fund the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. Restocking Nantahala Areas Aims At Future Revenue
Wildlife game management areas in Nantahala forest, in cooperation with the state, are stocked by the U S Forest Service. Fall planting includes 20000 trout on Standing Indian headwaters, 4000 on White Oak Creek, 2000 on Wayah Creek, 2000 rainbow trout on Fires Creek, plus wild turkey releases. On December 15, three deer were released at White Oak Bottoms. Program seeks satisfactory populations to enable future housing and local revenue.

Preparations are nearly complete for the American Legion Christmas party for needy children to be held at the Franklin courthouse next Saturday December 24 starting at 2 p.m. The Legion Auxili ary women prepared bags with fruits candies and toys and will have extra bags for late submissions. A committee Rev J A Flanagan Zeb V Moss and Tom Moss solicits funds for the tree with strong support from local business and professional people. Contributions included cash and toys from the dime board placed before the Ashear building. The committee thanks contributors and anticipates a large crowd and a more enjoyable event than last year.
