Community Christmas Club Organized For Macon Co.
A permanent Community Christmas Club was formed in Macon County with Harley K Cabe as chairman. Membership costs one dollar and a central committee will raise funds for trees and baskets to aid ill or unfortunate families. A countywide tree plan aims to spread Christmas spirit beyond Franklin, with trees in each section.

Funeral services for Aaron D Tallent 5 well known farmer and miner of the Iotla section were held at Otla Baptist church Tuesday afternoon at 3 o clock Rev George A Cloer pastor of the Coweta and Newman's Chapel Baptist churches conducted the services Interment was in church cemetery Mr Tallent died in Angel Clinic Monday afternoon after sustaining a fractured skull while working in the forest service rock quarry on Wayah December 5 He was operated on December 14 He was born June 12 1885 the son of the late Mr and Mrs Ephriam Tallent On September 14 1910 he married Florence Reeves also of this county He was a member of the Burningtown Surviving widow Mrs Florence Reeves Tallent five children Hiram of Iota Clyde a teacher at Rocky Mount Darrell of the United States Navy Lois and Howard one brother Henry Tallent of Route 3 four sisters Mrs Lawrence Roper Mrs James Guyer Mrs Harley Crawford and Mrs George Willis all of Route 3 also his stepmother Mrs Mary Tallent The pallbearers were Charlie Shelton G J Jacobs Lloyd Tallent Denver Morgan John Tallent and Walter Angel

Last Rites for James A Ledford Held at Barringtons Baptist
Funeral services for James A Ledford 65 were conducted at Barringtons Baptist Church with Robert Williams pastor of Oak Grove Baptist officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Ledford died at home in Oak Dale after a two month illness. He was born November 12 1906 in Macon County to Thomas and Jennie Ledford. Survived by wife Ada Raby and six children Lethia Arnold Frank Sheridan Tia Jane Elizabeth, all of Roost, two brothers Fred and D Ay. Pallbearers Morris Ledford Bester Ledford Herschel Ledford Eagar Reeves Carroll Rowland and Lloyd Mason.

Death at Otto grist mill claims young farmer Orland Cabe
Orland S Cabe a 20 year old farmer of the Otto community was found killed at the Cabe grist mill on Middle Creek around 11 o clock Tuesday morning. His coat sleeve tangled in a belt drew him into the machinery. He was unmarried and the son of Mr and Mrs James H Cabe. Burial was at Asbury Methodist church cemetery after a Wednesday service led by Rev J C Swaim.

Franklin hosts a Bowl of Rice supper at Kelly's Tea Room to aid medical supplies for war-stricken China. Sixty-eight guests attended a rice themed menu with doughnuts as the only non Chinese item. Proceeds plus individual gifts total 3414 dollars as chairman J H Stockton reports. Volunteers seek Franklin’s share to reach 50 dollars before sending funds to Colonel Theodore Roosevelt of the American committee for Medical Aid to China.
