Four Deer Reported Killed In County Since October 1
Four deer have been reported killed in Macon County since October 1 as hunters seek buck prizes. Frequent kill sites include Wayah Creek near Gillespie Farm and the Point area near Wayah Creek. Patton Returns From Raleigh After Special Session
Macon county representative Robert A. Patton returned from the Raleigh special legislative session which adjourned after enacting an unemployment compensation law. The measure will let North Carolina share in federal benefits after January 1, 1938, about 2.3 million dollars a year. Governor Ehringhaus named two appointees for the administering commission while Major A. T. Fletcher will serve as a third member. The session also extended bond issuance time to June 1 for PWA funded university building projects.

Death claims George Bulgin Franklin blacksmith dies at 61
George M. Bulgin 61 a Franklin blacksmith and machinist died of paralysis at his Murphy road home after several weeks illness. He recovered from a 1982 stroke enough to work then died Saturday night. Funeral Sunday at Franklin Presbyterian church with large attendance. Burial in Franklin cemetery. Surviving wife Rosa Bulgin three brothers and a sister and other relatives. Bulgin lived in Macon county except for five years in Chicago. He had a long career in local shops and served as a Republican candidate for sheriff in the past.
