A Note From Mildred Merrill To The Franklin
Nineveh Indiana November 3 1944 Dear Franklin readers I complied with Dr Hanleys request for a few words to The Franklin not because I have anything of interest to impart but because he asked it and also because having been in my youth a member of the Franklin board for two years I know how hard it is to get material to fill up the columns sometimes even though said material is as dry and prosaic as an account of a school teachers life must needs be However the living of that life is more exciting than it sounds The hearing of recitations and assigning of lessons is not all though that is not so monotonous in a township high school where one must teach a variety of subjects which is bewildering But one must also get in touch with the community and study out the problem of making life more worth living for the young people Being so near Franklin I am still in close touch with college life and deeply interested in all its activities Sincerely yours Mildred Merrill 14
