Franklin land chosen for Indiana Baptists college site
The Education Society selected Franklin as the site for the Indiana Baptist Manual Labor Institute after a June 24 1835 decision by a three member committee. Donors George King and Hervey McCaslin provided eight acres adjoining East Franklin, forming the core of the campus with future expansion and timbered land to support student labor programs.
