Franklin Try-Outs for HNB-1919 Staff Begin Today
The Franklin College newspaper invites all students to try out for membership on the HNB-1919 staff. The faculty committee led by President Goodell and Professors Arneth Zeppenfeld said hopefuls must write a news story and an editorial and submit copies to committee members by the May 5 deadline. The staff might be enlarged next year to handle growing college interests.

First Franklin Graduate Killed in Service Sunny Sundvall
Second Lieutenant August Leo Sundvall, Franklin College class of 1916, is listed as died of wounds. He was a popular athlete and orator, guard on football, second baseman and catcher in baseball, active in multiple student groups, and member of Phi Alpha Pi. He trained at Chicago University before enlisting, was sent to the Tuscania, which was sunk, and is the first Franklin man to fall in World War I. Ruh Cooke and Margaret Larrison visited home for the weekend.

College celebrate record attendance at annual dinner
Frances Wishard and Esther Berryhill share top honors in a college song contest for words and music with On to Victory and Our Noise Franklin. The annual college dinner at the gym tonight expects alumni, two hundred students, and about two hundred faculty members amid decorated halls and a six o'clock reception in the library before dinner at seven.
