Local summer school will run twelve weeks from May 15 to July 6 with terms starting May 15 and June 21. Courses include biology chemistry physics mathematics languages literature psychology education home economics music and public speaking. Prospective students should contact Dr J L Bey at Franklin for the February Bulletin and questions.
Dr Charles B Henderson, sociology professor at Chicago University and a prominent Baptist leader, died after a short illness in Charleston South Carolina. He spent boyhood in Lafayette Indiana where his father was a Baptist minister. President E A Hanley mourns the loss and notes Henderson’s stature in education.
The final term starts with remarks from President Hanley urging all to make this the best term yet. Registrar records show twelve new students entering college this term.
Professor Otis W. Caldwell dean of the University of Chicago college was operated on for appendicitis at Presbyterian hospital Chicago after an acute attack Saturday night. Word from his bedside says he is getting along nicely. Caldwell formerly taught in this county and is Franklin College alumnus. The State Historical Association for College Professors and High School Teachers met in Todianapolis last Friday and Saturday with Professor Palmer and Miss Goldie Spencer in attendance.
