27 Seniors Given Degrees At 84th Commencement

Lieut August L Sundvall died leading a patrol in a night raid on a German trench. Corpl Walco Winchenhaugh Boston told Milwaukee Journal correspondent of Sundvall’s death and rescue, earning the Croix de Guerre for bravery. Sundvall, 1916, first Franklin man to fall in service, died after being wounded beneath enemy fire.

Y M C A Lake Geneva Conference Expands Reach

Reports indicate the Y M C A conference at Lake Geneva will be larger this year with nine states represented including Indiana Halineis Iowa Minnesota Michigan North Dakota South Dakota and newcomers Nebraska and Montana. Confirmed participants from here include Theo Sharp and Ralph Thurston.

Campbell Elected Captain of Next Season Nine

At a meeting of the baseball squad Ear l Spud Campbell was elected captain for next year. Campbell has played a snappy game for two seasons in the field and at bat and is a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Four New Members Named for Board

Four prominent men were elected to membership on the board of directors at the annual commencement week meeting in President Goodell's office. New members are Dr. Herbert S. Johnson, Broadhurst Elsey, C. M. Thoms, and A. I. Johnson. The board also appointed a committee to furnish the dormitory third floor and expand the dining room to accommodate larger co-ed attendance next year.

Sororities Adopt Second Semester Rush Rules at Franklin

Franklin Pan Hellenic council adopted a new rush plan delaying freshman rushing to the second semester. Spiking forbidden before week two, summer spiking banned, and parties set for Wed Thu Fri of rush week with rotation by founding date. Pi Beta Phi Delta Delta Delta and Lambda Psi Nu to hold first, second and third spots respectively next year.

Alumni Association elects officers and forms committee

The Alumni Association elected Charles F. Remy as president Roshcoe G. Stott as vice president Rollin Ott as secretary and A A Alexander as treasurer. A committee was appointed to revise the constitution and routine business was discussed.

Class Play Draws Big Crowd at Frank SIO Opera House

A senior class presentation of The Camouflage drew one of the largest audiences Monday at the Frank S I opera house. Under Prof Arthur J Bernatti the production featured strong performances by Lorraine Kate Wells and Nellie Eikenberry with notable junior stunts and a lively comedy between acts.
