Morgan's reform era under General Morgan at Indian Affairs
General Morgan led a new era from 1869 to 1893, expanding education, land allotment, and citizenship training for Indians. He fought political pressure, refused patronage, and saved the government money while advancing the uplift policy. After resigning, he joined the American Baptist Home Mission Society, guiding schools and churches for nine years.
