Lincoln Way Rebuttal Reveals Near Settlement in Frankfort Sewer Dispute

The Lincoln Way High School district disclosed a November 22, 1975 meeting with Frankfort Village President Glenn Warning that a proposed $30,000 payment and a 33-foot easement would settle the sewer line dispute. The village council rejected the package and the case proceeded to court, where Frankfort won. District 159 Hiring Impasse Spurs Adjourned Meeting

The Mokena School Board failed to decide which teachers will be rehired for 1976-77 at its May 26 session and sets an adjourned meeting for Wednesday. The district faces a $477,000 deficit and measures include budget cuts and a tax levy rise. An audit revealed a double insurance premium on a $477,000 bond. The board also changed the June meeting date and approved CVIS for eighth graders.

Memorial Day Parades Set for Frankfort and New Lenox

Frankfort and New Lenox hold Memorial Day parades tomorrow at 10 and 10 30 a m. Frankfort crews march from Frankfort grade school to village hall and Pleasant Hill cemetery with music from the grade school band and girls chorus. Frankfort recently earned Bicentennial Community status and a certificate and flag will be presented by Rep George Sangmeister. New Lenox parade starts at Oakview school sponsored by the VFW traveling Cedar road to Oak and Hickory streets for cemetery services.

Mokena Parks Unveil Summer Programs From Canada Trip To Engine Classes

Mokena park district launches a diverse summer recreation program starting the week of June 14 and running into late July. Activities include a Canada trip for students and Lincoln Way High School courses in small engines and bicycle repair, plus arts, sports, and fitness for residents and non residents. Registration occurs at Mokena Elementary School with evening and weekend slots and mail in options.
