Village resists sewer and water extension costs to high school
The village argues Frankfort taxpayers should not bear a disproportionate share of sewer and water extension costs for the high school project. Plane crashes into home injuring pilot near Howell airport
A small plane struck a New Lenox residence injuring pilot Daniel McGarry 38 of Olympia Fields after takeoff from Howell airport on Laraway road. Mrs Helen Harding 36 and her 12 year old son Dean escaped unharmed as they watched TV. McGarry was treated at St James hospital and released Tuesday.

District 161 Names Helen Lightstone Instructional Programs Coordinator
Northeastern Illinois teacher Helen Lightstone was selected as co ordinator of instructional programs for Summit Hill District 161. The 34 year old, with 14 years in education, will receive a one year 20500 dollar contract effective July 1. She will supervise program changes and coordinate audio visual instruction special education articulation and research while evaluating instruction and developing curricular materials. She will work under Supt Aldo Fanti and report to the district.

Two men arrested after stabbing in Mokena fight
Mokena police arrested Michael McEntee and Lawrence Siwinski Sunday after a fight left Joseph Vellenga stabbed and badly beaten. Vellenga, 29, was hospitalized in guarded condition. McEntee and Siwinski, both 23, were charged with aggravated assault. McEntee also faces assault with a deadly weapon.
