Village vote on SPORGungner project faces split council

At a village meeting, administrator John Lektorich spoke as Joe Hartung warned a three year return on investment for the SPOR Gungner plant. A faction of 10CAR Epicconen opposed the deal, calling the plan an improper extension of public credit for private gain and urging scrutiny of the public trust.

Summit Hill weighs three part referendum on taxes and school building

Summit Hill school officials contemplate a June vote on a three part referendum to raise funds. Proposals include an eight cent per 100 assessed value transportation tax raising about 9 800 first year plus a daily bus and field trip program, a 30 yearly tax for building projects and a $2 million school construction plan potentially funded by a Capital Development board grant. District 161 seeks to add a Summit Hill Junior High wing and a Mainstreet elementary school in Frankfort Square with modest tax impacts.

Frankfort OKs Sewer Study Plan Linking to Grant

Frankfort village approves a plan of study for a wastewater treatment facilities review in the Frankfort Mokena area. Bruce Hamilton says a grant-funded study could begin by June 1 1976 and finish by November 1 1976, with possible extension.

Jacknifed Truck Hits Utility Pole at 191st Street and Route 45

A truck jackknifed on wet pavement and struck a utility pole at 191st street and Route 45 Monday morning. George Byrne, 23, of Oak Lawn, the driver, suffered injuries and was taken to South Suburban hospital. The vehicle, owned by a pipe company, skidded during the rain, police said.

Ford son of President Ford tours southwest suburbs

Ford will ride with Tinley Park mounted police at Haymac stables in Mokena then visit Carl Sandburg High School for about 250 students. He will proceed to Moraine Valley Community College to meet administrators and student leaders and view Senior Girl Scout crafts before departing.
