New Lenox district officials approved a 6 percent average raise for about 50 non certified staff including clerical custodial and transportation workers retroactive to July 1. Bus drivers were not included. Also approved were two new teachers and three resignations.

A 14 resident meeting in New Lenox formed the South Suburban Freeway Coalition to block a proposed 71 mile freeway linking the Calumet Expressway near Crete with northern and western suburbs. Led by John Wisnewski the group plans data gathering, education campaigns, and opposition strategies as land purchases loom in 1977 78. Barenz and Guendling Appointed to District 159 Board

Frederick Guendling Jr and Willard A Barenz were named to fill vacancies on the Mokena School District 159 board at a special meeting. Their terms run until April 1977. both formerly served on the board. The panel approved selling bonds worth 207 844.41 to Channel Newman Securities at 5.83 percent net interest for ten years. A trust fund adjustment with the Capital Development Board allocates 445 742 to cover the district's 30 percent share of building costs. A resignation by Mark Frazier, a six year art teacher, was accepted.

Lincoln-Way budget stays in black for 1976 77

Lincoln-Way Community high school presents a 1976 77 budget showing receipts of 4 870 32 92 dollars and disbursements of 5 158 864 92 dollars with a carry over balance. Supt Joe Kruzich notes state aid loss and estimates property value at 147 million dollars and says the district should remain in the black by June 1977. Public viewing runs 30 days from July 19 at L W high school with a public hearing set for August 26 at 8 p m during the board meeting to approve the budget.
