The Frankfort village board approved a $1.2 million appropriations ordinance for 1977-78 covering 12 departments. Village officials stress the totals are not final expenditures and that the actual budget will be far lower, with future work sessions planned for detail.
Summit Hill officials and curriculum coordinator Helen Lightstone have completed preliminary interviews with over 100 applicants for the junior high principal post. Three to five finalists will be considered, with final selection by July 11 and a projected salary of 20 000 to 25 000 for a one year contract.
A two year Tinley Park police investigation led to the arrest of William Bonew, 25, at his home on June 25. Officers seized 96 ounces of marijuana valued at 3360 dollars and found 1540 dollars in one bag. Bond set at 2000 dollars. preliminary hearing scheduled next Thursday.
A legal technicality blocks Prestwick Utilities from ICC rehearing on proposed 12 percent water and 27 percent sewer increases for Frankfort Square and Prestwick Estates. The company seeks higher rates to offset rising costs, while residents vow to continue opposing future hikes.

The honor from World Wildlife Fund via the Boy Scouts of America recognizes conservation work and understanding of global resource interdependence. Friant earned conservation and environmental merit badges and related skills through the Rainbow council. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl V. Friant of 1216 North Cooper Road.
The Mokena park district will show a Walt Disney movie and cartoons Friday night at 10925 LaPorte Road. The outdoor screening starts at 8:45 p.m. Admission is free and the concession stand will be open. Bring lawn chairs.
