The Summit Hill School District 161 moves forward with a three part referendum to ease a budget deficit and fund a long term construction program. A 50 cent education fund tax increase and a special election set for October 18 are proposed.

LaGrange road work eyed for early October finish

Construction on LaGrange road in Orland Park aims to finish by October 1 if weather cooperates, with a latest finish of October 30. The project, still delaying local businesses, will resume south of 151st Street this week, with traffic kept to one half of the street at a time to access businesses.

Benefit For Bail Stopped In Will County Kidnapping Case

A planned benefit party to raise bail for eight indicted in the July 23 Will County kidnapping near Frankfort was halted by a circuit court injunction. The event, to be held on a New Lenox farm, was halted after prosecutors said organizers lacked proper permits. Indictments name Michael Wallerstedt Steven Fehr Rebecca Hopman Terry Fellers Joseph Corrado Mark Hobson Thomas Schofield and a 16 year old, charged with aggravated kidnapping armed robbery and related counts in the John Reinhofer case.

Will County board, divided 14-12 along party lines, again blocked Ted Grabavoy’s bid to appoint Ruth Donahue to the seat vacated by her late husband.
