District 1570 votes caps and gowns for eighth graders
Frankfort school officials revised the dress code for eight grade graduation to caps and gowns starting June 1983 with gowns rented at 9 dollars per student. The board approved after Principal Bill Small cited a fall survey showing overwhelming parent support for the uniform. The district seeks full state recognition to secure full state aid. Enrollment is 1,029 this fall, down about 45 from last year. A $5,829 energy survey grant was awarded and the district will pay the same amount for the survey to identify energy saving projects.

Suburban burglary ring linked across Will Cook DuPage counties
Frankfort and Will county sheriffs along with several suburban agencies probe a highly organized burglary ring active in at least three counties and possibly two states. Eight suspects are tied to thefts of electronics, TVs, guns, jewelry, and bank savings. One arrest, Michael R. Peco of Oak Lawn, connects Frankfort’s August home burglary to other cases. Police say the group traffics in guns and drugs and may transport stolen goods interstate. Presence of bank thefts is a key link. seven more suspects likely.
