Area schools to graduate over 1200 in Lincoln Way area
More than 1,200 graduates will march to Pomp and Circumstance in Lincoln Way area schools commencement exercises. Summit Hill juniors of the Class of ’83 total 149 diplomas at Lincoln-Way East. Other ceremonies cover Mokena District 159 and Frankfort District junior highs with 112 and 142 graduates respectively. Schools note open admission, tickets where needed, and honors including National Honor Society inductions and VFW awards.

Principal resigns in Dist 161 Arbury Hills school
Principal Alan Trhlik of Arbury Hills school resigns effective June 30 after eight years in the post. Superintendent Aldo Fanti calls the move a planned transition, noting reduced enrollment and the need for new leadership. Trhlik says he considered this for over a year and has not decided his next steps. The district may fill the vacancy from existing staff.

Rogus to take Fanti's post in summer of 34
Julian Rogus named chief administrative officer for Summit Hill District 161, succeeding Aldo Fanti July 1 1984. He will start a two year contract at 42000 first year, with no set salary for 1985 86. The district will abolish the assistant superintendent post and create an administrative assistant role to save salary while aiding paperwork.

Lincoln-Way high school board reemploys 20 of 25 honorably dismissed teachers for the 1983 84 year after routine spring action. Three were permanently dismissed, two resigned. Supervisory and extracurricular staff were reemployed and an additional assistant track coach post was created. The board approved 119 553 in bids for decorating repairs supplies and auditing and discussed awarding to the lowest bidder or local vendors.

Memorial Day Parades Set for Mokena and Frankfort
Frankfort and Mokena plan Memorial Day parades starting at 10 a.m. with 9:30 a.m. lineups at Frankfort grade school and the William Martin VFW Post 725. Frankfort ceremonies at village hall and Pleasant Hill cemetery feature police fire departments VFW cadets and local bands. Mokena marchers head to St Marys cemetery and back with taps gun salute at each stop. about 400 marchers including Lincoln Way bands and VFW members.
