Voters in Frankfort and New Lenox Township May Register

Voters in Frankfort New Lenox township and nearby areas may register on Saturday September 10. Registrars operate from 1 PM to 9 PM at the Cooper Hostert garage Front Street in Mokena Frankfort and vicinity at Burnett W Schram barber shop 112 Kansas Street New Lenox residents register at Ronald Crisman registrar Harold Cooper town clerk for Mokena and Schram town collector for Frankfort. Eligibility requires citizen 21 by November 8 residency 1 year in state 90 days in county and 30 days in voting precinct. Changes of name require new forms. If already registered no need to report. Those moving may mail pink registration cards to County Clerk Joseph Hartley.

Lincoln Estates Woman Dies After Long Illness

Ida E. Pauling 77 of Lincoln Estates died August 31 at Silver Cross Hospital after a lingering illness. She was a Calvary Baptist member and charter member of the Four-Square Church of Chicago Heights. Services were at Carlson Funeral Home Joliet September 2 with Rev Olaf J. Nelson Jr. officiating. Burial in Union Cemetery Green Garden township Monee.

Grandsons Heirs Named in Frankfort Will Case

The will of Fred Warning of Frankfort, who died August 16, leaves $5,682 in personal property to be divided equally between grandsons Glen and Stanley Warning, both of Frankfort. The will, dated March 14, 1957, has been filed for probate with Probate Clerk E B Workman.

Mokena Youth Is Fined in Auto Accessory Case

Donald Alexander a 17 year old of Mokena pleaded guilty in Joliet Justice court to disorderly conduct after his arrest with two others for alleged theft of car accessories in Peotone. He was fined 200 dollars while companions Frank Haseman and Wayne Dierking face petty larceny charges with 1000 dollar bonds.

Enroll At St Marys Parochial School Mokena

St Marys Parochial School in Mokena resumes classes with 303 students under Sister Mercedes principal of seventh and eighth grades. Two new teachers join the staff Sister M James from St Michael Schererville and Mrs David Mundt of Iowa. Other faculty include Sisters M Francis M Ildephonse M Doris and Father Cecil Koop as pastor.

Low Funds Threaten School Standards In L W District

A spring regular school election failed by 32 votes amid funding shortfalls. Mokena resident John Porick wrote to Supt. A Hun ter Chapman expressing regret and urging accountability. The letter argues parent forgetfulness caused the defeat and urges backing the district’s project despite the loss.

Edna Beadle Native Of New Lenox Honored With Rites

Last rites were held Friday for Edna Beadle 71 born April 18 1890 New Lenox township. Burial followed in Maplewood cemetery New Lenox. She taught locally married Lawrence Beadle Sept 20 1911. Survived by daughter Marge Joliet son Raymond Marley and five sisters.

Summit Hill Voters Approve Bonds for New School Plan

Summit Hill voters approved a $35,000 building bond and a 21 cent educational fund tax rate increase. A new Arbury Hills school is not yet usable while the old one-room school on 191st Street handles about 60 students with two teachers on split shifts. No district transportation is provided. Chief James Smetana of Mokena is in Silver Cross hospital for a check up.

Frankfort group names Mrs. Rudman chair and Lorraine Robinson co chair with Irene Heisner secretary and Glenn Schroeder treasurer at a September 1 meeting held at Mrs. Irving Rudman's home. Mamie Brandau Dies Longtime Tinley Resident

Mamie G. Brandau 58 nee Schellhase native of Orland township and longtime resident of Tinley Park died Sunday September 4 at her home after a long illness. She was a member of the Woman's Auxiliary American Legion Tinley Park Post 615 and the Women’s Society of Christian Service at Tinley Park Methodist Church. Survived by husband Harry two sons Vernon W of Linden Colorado and Lloyd E Tinley Park one sister Anna Breitbarth Tinley and two brothers William Schellhase Tinley Park and Walter Blue Island. Funeral services were held at the Hirsch funeral home and then at the Tinley Park Methodist Church with Rev Kenneth Crandall officiating. Interment Tinley Park Memorial cemetery.
