Record Vote Expected in Will County Area Tuesday

Voters in Will County and surrounding areas prepare for a high turnout next Tuesday. Analysts note possible 65 000 ballots cast in the county, with five precincts in Frankfort Township and changes in New Lenox. Immanuel Lutheran Church Celebrates 110th Anniversary

Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mokena will mark its 110th founding anniversary with a 10 a.m. service and communion this Sunday, plus the dedication of a new parsonage on LaPorte road as part of the Building for the Future program. The church, organized in 1850 by German immigrants, has a long history including prior sites and pastors.

PTA Panel Meet Set at Frankfort School Nov 9

A Frankfort PTA panel program is planned for next Wednesday November 9 at the school. President Mrs. Connard Hankinson will open at 7 30 p m with Leonard Patterson as moderator. Panelists include Frederick Withington and Rodman Smelling from Morgan Park Military Academy A Hunter Chapman Lincoln Way High School and Paul Lambrecht. Each panelist gets 15 minutes to discuss his topic and questions are invited from attendees. The event is open to the public with hostesses led by Mrs. Paul Lambrecht.

Edw. Martie dies prominent Mokena banker and civic leader

Edward B. Martie 84 bank officer and former mayor of Mokena died Thursday, Oct. 27 at his Front Street home after a recent heart attack. Born Oct. 12, 1876 in Orland Township he was vice president of Mokena State Bank for 28 years and served as village trustee 1925-31 and mayor 1931-35. Survived by wife Clara two sons Howard and Willard two brothers two sisters and other relatives. Funeral services were held Sunday Oct. 30 at St. John's United Church of Christ Mokena with burial in the church cemetery. Arrangements by West End Funeral Home Chicago Heights.
