Orland Park American Legion Aux Wins District Awards
The Orland Park American Legion auxiliary unit 526 received multiple awards at the eighth district meeting held June 14 at Thornton Post. Honors cover national membership, nine point rehabilitation, history for 1960, preparedness, and membership quota. Attendees included Hilda Nitsche and Pat Braasch, with 1254 poppies sold. volunteers listed include Emily Zerbs, Dorothy Thoms, Sally Cooper, and others. Thirteen district girls were selected for Illini Girl State.

Scouts Begin Intensive Leader Training Program
About 60 Boy Scouts from Will, Grundy, and Kankakee counties started an intensive leadership training course at the Rainbow Council reservation near Morris.
