Richard Shimkus hosted Sportsmens club gathering for George Strumph Jim Lash Don Polieh and John Swatkowski. Francis Simon birthday observed February 16. John and Diane Muto welcomed a baby boy John Jr born January 23 at Silver Cross Hospital weighing six pounds one ounce. Hank and Vera Moorehouse and Palos Village Players hosted neighbors after a Carl Sandburg High School performance.

Mokena Fire Dept Hosts Mutual Aid Meeting

Mokena Community Volunteer Fire Department hosted the DesPlaines Valley Mutual Aid Association meeting with 90 firemen from 14 communities. Illinois Bell presented a 45 minute film on industrial fire fighting and defense. fundraiser planned to buy equipment to avoid higher insurance rates. pinochle tournament on April 29 and dance on May 6 at the VFW Hall with a $5 family donation.

Alpine 4 H Club Hosts Valentine Meeting at Maue School

Alpine 4 H Girls Club held a Valentine party and regular meeting on February 11 at Maue School. Janis Gee opened, bake sale plans for March 4, and a First Aid demonstration on artificial respiration were given by Joan Stellwagen and Elaine Yunker. Members crafted artificial flowers for a window display for 4 H week starting March 2. Record books were handed out by leader Harwood Stellwagen. Refreshments served by Rosemary and Kathy Doctor.

Mokena Chamber to Hold Annual Banquet March 4

The Mokena Chamber of Commerce will stage its annual banquet on Saturday evening March 4 at Silver Lake Country Club in Orland Park. Wives are invited. Hold Last Rites For Former N. S. Resident Mrs Clara Beadle

Mrs. Clara Beadle 94 of New Lenox died Saturday in Montrose Colorado after a lingering illness. Funeral services are set for Thursday at 2 00 p m at Baskerville Funeral Chapel New Lenox with Rev Alfred H Hunter officiating. Burial will be Maplewood Cemetery. She came to New Lenox in 1903 and leaves a daughter Mrs Ethel Miller Fruita Colo and three other daughters Mrs Fae Weeks Brownsville Texas Mrs Bernice Calais San Fernando California Mrs Mary Chapman Wilmette Ill and a son Chester St Louis Missouri plus 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
