Christ A. Sangmeister 73 of Joliet died Sunday night at home after a heart condition. He worked as jailer until 1948 and was a member of several groups including the First Presbyterian church. He is survived by his wife Leona two daughters a sister a brother and two grandchildren. Burial was at Rose Hill cemetery Green Garden.

Luhring Former Brator Manager Dies at 80 in Frankfort
Henry Luhring 80 longtime Frankfort Grain Co manager died at home in Frankfort after a three year illness. Born February 24 1880 in New Lenox township he moved to the village in 1914 and led the grain company for 40 years retiring in 1954. He belonged to Mt Joliet Lodge 42 A F and AM Joliet Commandery Knights Templar Modern Woodman of America and St Peter's United Church of Christ. Survived by wife Elizabeth five nieces four nephews. Funeral held Wednesday from West End Funeral Home Chicago Heights with Rev Erich Bizer officiating burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery Frankfort.

Lincolne Way Band Winter Concert Set For Sunday
The Lincolne Way high school band will present its Winter Concert on Sunday February 5 at 3 p.m. in the school auditorium. Tickets are 75 cents for adults and 35 cents for students. Selections include Finale from The New World Symphony by Antonin Dvorak, Starlet pieces You Are May Lucky Star Stairway To The Stars I Saw Stars The Starlet Hour, Timpat percussion, The Sound of Music from the Rodgers Hammerstein musical.

Raske Fined $200 After Assault on 16 Year Old Girl
Elmer Raske, 33, of Tinley Park, fined $200 and costs after arrest for assaulting a 16 year old Frankfort girl while delivering milk. He was taken into custody after the victim described his truck. The charge was reduced to disorderly conduct after investigation. Lincoln Way High Board approves tax warrants and staffing changes
The Lincoln Way High School board approves issuing 160000 in tax anticipation warrants to four banks over four months with 10000 per bank at 3.5 percent. They hire Tom Thompson for 1000 for contest vocal work and Jane Bills for 2000 in English, replacing Jane Sullivan. A salary committee will review contracts for 1961-62. Frankfort to Host Will County Civil Defense Radio Repeater
The Will County civil defense program selects Frankfort village hall as the repeater site with an antenna atop the water tower to broadcast emergency messages to schools. The system can warn against attacks or tornadoes and uses Joliet's county office to originate messages. A gasoline generator will provide power if lines fail, and work starts soon with completion anticipated next month.

Man Arrested After Wandering Joliet Streets At Night
Rodger C. Mattson 29 of New Lenox was jailed in Joliet after wandering the 200 block of South Raynor Ave and knocking on doors at 206 and 208. He claimed a ride from Rockdale ended in a beating and robbery, with more than $17 recovered on him. He was fined $10 for disorderly conduct.

Joliet Man Survives Narrow Bridge Halt By Train
John Cottone 54 of New Lenox narrowly escaped tragedy when his car struck a guard rail on a Joliet bridge over the New York Central tracks and teetered over the edge. Deputy Knutson lit a flare and diverted a fast freight to halt within 20 feet of the car as the railing was knocked loose. The bridge has seen several fatal accidents in recent years. The train delay exceeded an hour.

John Balaz Dies at 73 Police Judge and Umpire
John J. Balaz 73 longtime Mo ken a police magistrate and amateur baseball umpire died at home Saturday January 28 after a lingering illness. Born June 13 1887 in Hungary he came to the United States as a child. He worked as a salesman for Royal Typewriter Co in Chicago and as bookkeeper for Welsh Lumber Co in Mokena. He married Forever Grace Nelson in 1912 and is survived by a daughter Eloise Erdmann a son Harold II a sister and four brothers and two grandchildren plus one great grandchild. Funeral services were held January 31 at the Hirsch Funeral Chapel Tinley Park with burial in St Johns Cemetery Mokena. Masonic services conducted Monday at the chapel.
