Co. H. Peck of Remington ranks tied for forty fifth among amateur trap shooters nationwide being considered for the Olympic team to compete in Artwerp Belgium next summer. Peck has 1595 targets broken with a 0.9494 average after 1200 plus trials. W. S. Lang of Edgewater Pennsylvania also posted a strong game average after 1425 targets.
Harold Mayhugh and Miss Ethel Pike were married last Thursday at the bride's parents home south of Francesville in a ceremony attended by close relatives. The bride, long a Francesville high school teacher, and the groom, newly returned from military service on the Mexican border, will reside on a farm east of town after visiting relatives in Illinois.
Samuel Possee son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Possee wed Elma Susan Abshire at the bride's Winchester home Sunday. They left for Francesville where Possee will begin teaching in the public schools. The couple announced their engagement after his overseas service.
Wilson Timmons, long-time operator of The Main Garage, has purchased the business from William T. O'Dowd. Timmons previously ran a garage in Francesville and brings experience to the city, where his friendly service has made the shop popular with the public.
M. C. Melton and Alex Cota, arrested March 22 on murder charges, will have a White circuit court hearing on Tuesday September 16 unless a continuance occurs. Mrs. Pearl Graves died when run over by a touring car carrying four men, two of whom Mellon and Cota reportedly were intoxicated.
Fred Weltzin sold his Beaver township farm of 400 acres to J. W. Porter of Pontiac Illinois for 100 dollars per acre. Weltzin bought a 120 acre tract in Van Buren township through Frank Badger of Star City. His son Ernest plans to move there March 1.
Illinois buyers move on Star City area farmland with aggressive pricing. A farmer from Furbacer raised a 240 acre farm price from 180 to 275 per acre, claiming funds and land values exceed Indiana listings. The note suggests local land trades in Pulaski county and nearby Salem and White Post townships, with buyers believing land is undervalued by sellers.

Timothy Gleason 65 and a former Hanging Grove Township resident died at his Rensselaer home Sunday from stomach cancer. Funeral at St. Augustine's Church in Rensselaer followed by burial at Calvary. Survived by sisters Mrs. James German, Mrs. Nora Worden, Mrs. Mariah Dooley. brothers Michael Gleason and Dennis Gleason.
The County Christian Endeavor Association held its annual convention at the Christian Church in Francesville with both afternoon and evening sessions. A lawn supper was served at Rev. J S VanOrman’s residence. Notable speakers included Miss Day of Marion, E P Gates, field secretary, Robert Knight of Purdue, Rev. H R Martin, and Mrs. Florence Scipio of Chalmers. The Pulaski delegation won the banner for largest attendance.
W B Powers sold section 1 of Indian Creek township four miles south of Winamac for about 120000. Purchasers were F W Martin of Kankakee Illinois and HE Delamore of Francesville Indiana. The 589 acre short section went for 200 per acre.
J Vaughan, 65, of Lafayette, loses 25000 after being duped by three men posing as investment brokers in a Denver stock promotion fraud. Vaughan was visiting the West when the scheme unfolded. Old newspapers for sale offered by Clark's Grocery.

James Longwell died Friday at his daughter’s home in Hear Brookston from paralysis. A longtime contractor, he lived near Francesville and later worked in the Calumet District. Survived by sons John and George. daughters Lulu Barkhurst Wheatfield, Mrs. John Fairchild Monon, and Mrs. Chester Parks Brooks ton. Funeral Sunday at the Methodist Episcopal church with burial in the local cemetery.
W. J. Huff & Sons of Monon ponder a large plant to print the Farm Bureau Organ with an expected monthly circulation of 100000. Delays by two Indianapolis printers have hampered production. Huff and sons visited Fowler to arrange with the Benton Review shop to print the October edition if awarded the contract.
The state superintendent reports publishers charging retailers above contract prices for supplemental text books. This could force higher prices for students. Attorney General Eli Stansbury has not yet decided on action.

Vesta Devon Wentz died at his father Abner R. Wentz home at midnight September 2 1919 from complications of influenza he had been ill about four weeks. Born July 7 1902 near Medaryville Indiana he moved to this community twelve years ago. He leaves his father four brothers three sisters and many relatives and friends. The family mourns a beloved son and brother.
The Krupp armament group in Germany has begun shifting toward railway production for government contracts. An initial order calls for 100 locomotives and 2,000 cars with government oversight. Directors seek broader iron construction to mobilize all plants during the war.
A large motor truck belonging to Chas G Ward of Monon was destroyed by fire on the stone road about six miles west of Flat Town Monday. The truck was empty and driven toward town when the blaze started near the exhaust from the gasoline tank. Loss amount not learned but fully insured. The truck, bought from Frank Horner, was comparatively new.
Joseph Herrman, overseer at Alton poor farm, covered cow legs with stockings at milking time and claims an extra quart of milk per cow daily. The simple discovery has drawn interest from neighboring farmers as the industry faces a sluggish fly season and higher milk prices are hoped to follow.
