Schools Open Next Monday With a Full Corps of Teachers

Francesville and Salem township schools will reopen Monday Sept 10 after a teacher shortage left them in doubt. Trustee Edward Mayhugh and County Superintendent Tennell arranged a full corps including Homer L Higgins as Superintendent Lloyd Young as Assistant Ethel Pike as Principal and teachers for grades 7-8 5-6 3-4 and primary across Nauvoo Prairie Pleasant Grove Center Pleasant Hill and other locales.

Frost Dates for Indiana Weather Map Released

J H Armington of the U S Weather Bureau in Indianapolis issues a map of average killing autumn frosts in Indiana. The northeast typically sees frost between October 4 and 10 while the northwest averages October 10 to 20. Last year frost occurred on September 14.

Dr. C F Smith of Chicago continues a 17 000 mile walking tour for health, after an inter urban crash left a damaged lung. A purse of 2 500 dollars is offered if he completes the trek in four years. He has visited 23 states, is 74, and plans to finish in October.
