Ralph Snowden aged 24 of Reynolds was seriously injured when the Ford roadster he rode in was struck by several Monon freight cars at the main street crossing on a Saturday night. His two companions Matt Laumer 19 and Missia Scowden 17 escaped unharmed.
The death of Mrs. I N Davis occurred Saturday evening at the family home. Born March 1837 in England, she was 83 years old. She leaves her husband Isaac N Davis, two sons Charles H and William L, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. funeral at the Christian church with Rev. J S VanOrman officiating. Burial in the cemetery east of town.
The young ladies of St. Peter's Catholic church in Winamac host a bazaar at the Knights of Columbus rooms on Monday and Tuesday November 22 23. A cafeteria supper runs daily from 430 to 730 and tickets offer chances on many fancy and useful articles.
Pleasant Hill and Center schools in Salem township consolidate for a box social at Center school south of Francesville Friday evening November 19. The event features supper along with amusements and concessions including a fish pond and candy booths. Teachers Helen Shirtz and Florence Gant assist.
A box social and supper at Fairview School three miles west of Francesville occurs Wednesday evening at 7 o clock. Girls are asked to bring boxes and join the community for games and stunts in a lively evening.
Mrs Charles Saltwell of Barkley township died at the county hospital around 9 30 PM Tuesday the immediate cause being scarlet fever She had given birth to a son the previous week and scarlet fever developed after The deceased was born August 26 1882 and married about two years ago to Mr Saltwell She is survived by her husband infant son father William Bull four sisters Lorena Ruth Bull Mrs Lee Snodgrass and Mrs Norman Gorham and many other relatives Short funeral services were held at the grave Wednesday at 3 PM and burial followed at Weston cemetery.
Mrs Martin Coder died at Mercy Hospital St Joseph Michigan on Saturday November 6 funeral held at First Evangelical church Monday. She was well known here and long time resident with Mr and Mrs Joseph A Engle Mrs Engle attended the funeral.
