Mrs. Alex Merica and daughter Marjorie suffered broken arms and facial gash when the car they rode in skidded and overturned near Attica. Ewart Merica, Miss Margaret Moyer escaped unhurt. Stanley Merica led as pilot car. The group had been returning from Turkey Run.

A new automobile bus line will operate between Rensselaer Monon and Francesville, installed by Frank G. W Kresler owner of a local taxi line. Construction of cottages begins for the Epworth League Institute summer camp at Webster Lake. Within a week after sales opened, $20,000 was invested in lots for the camp grounds, including a tabernacle hotel and other structures. The 166th meeting of the Grand Lodge of Indiana Free and Accepted Masons will meet May 22 and 23 in Indianapolis at the Masonic Temple. Grand Master Robert W. Phillips will preside. The event will feature music by the Indiana Masonic Home girls’ orchestra and a visit to the Franklin Masonic Home. Officers for the next year will be elected.

Harry G Reid becomes president of the Indiana Hydro Electric Company, succeeding Samuel Insull who becomes chairman. The Tippecanoe River project's first unit at Norway will finish by June 1, delivering 10,000 horsepower to about twenty five northern Indiana cities. Interstate plans extend transmission to Logansport and connect with Central Illinois Utilities Company, enhancing power flow into Illinois.
Elmer Wilcox formerly of Francesville is appointed station agent at Rensselaer succeeding the late William H. Beam. He has directed the post for weeks in a permanent capacity after twelve years as a trick operator at Rensselaer. Over two thousand citizens and business leaders endorsed him. Seniority allowed the selection after older men waived their rights. Wilcox was trained under Beam for the new duties.
W R Jones, troubled by bladder complications, was taken to Mercy hospital in Benton Harbor Michigan on Tuesday for an operation to be performed today by Dr F L Sharrer. He traveled in E L Dalemores cart with his sons Charles and Guilf who have stayed nearby since his illness worsened.
The Monon railroad is handling over 700 coal cars daily to the Gary district and Wisconsin steel mills, moving more than 2,000 cars of freight per day. Officials say it is the greatest freight business in the road’s history and more rolling stock could boost volumes.
