Miss Alice Hill’s boys Sunday school class from the Christian church toured Knox last Sunday. They attended morning services at the Christian church with Rev. John S. Van Orman and later heard the baccalaureate sermon at the Methodist Episcopal church. Students on the trip included Clifford Boulden Ora Trader Harold Delamore Willard Myers Howard Ames Everett Hudgens Leonard Wentz Lloyd Gras Fred Kahler Edward Leis Wayne Myers Waldo Garrigues and Vernon Weltzin.
In Indianapolis federal court on Monday six men from Monon pleaded guilty to stealing freight from interstate shipments. Charles B. Allison Luther Lutes Clay Gobel Robert Fulmer John Fulmer and Victor Winkley received prison terms from eighteen months to two and a half years. Some robberies may have occurred in Francesville after cars were delivered.
Report cites lax cooperation by some physicians with the county health board as a factor in two scarlet fever deaths in Monticello and Buffalo within a week. It alleges doctors mischaracterized the illness and failed to enforce quarantine. In Chalmers business leaders opposed quarantines to protect commerce, while Buffalo area doctors allegedly let the outbreak spread and confused smallpox with a “breaking out” of disease.
In Remington a traveling wig salesman drew a crowd on Main Street and converted twenty to thirty men to wear wigs, moving their part from the middle to one side.

Indiana will establish a state police unit to detect auto thieves under Ed Jackson secretary of state. The certificate of title act gives police powers and deputy appointments across the state with districts headed from Indianapolis South Bend Fort Wayne Evansville Richmond and Hammond. Deputies will patrol by motorcycle or automobile funded by vehicle fees and may call on city police for assistance.
A Ford banquet will be held Thursday evening at 8 o'clock May 19 in the M E church basement hosted by the Young Ladies Missionary Society. Miss Rebecca Daily will speak after a chicken dinner. Proceeds buy Ford vehicles for missionaries to expand territory and improve service abroad.
A county Knights of Pythias meeting will be held in Me daryville on Wednesday May 18. Work will be given in the rank of esquire and all members are urged to attend. Deputy Grand Chancellor C S Loy will be present and a banquet will be served at 7 p m Dr C E Linton County Deputy Grand Chancellor
Mrs Louis Hugnet was a Ma non visitor Monday. Miss Helen Shirt visited Miss Elizabeth White in Hammond Monday. Garret Eppley and Raymond Deiter of North Manchester were here a few hours Tuesday. Mr and Mrs Amos Westphal and baby daughter went to Michigan City Monday. Christian Workers of the Christian church will meet with Mrs John Garrigues Thursday night and Friday afternoon. Orin Severns reports a very sick man with peculiar asthma complications. his condition worsened Monday prompting doctor visits.
A Saturday night public library gathering reviewed the viewers report on the Monon ditch obstructions. They found the obstructions eliminated by natural changes and endorsed the petition to settle the ditch affairs, noting prior audits and the current balance with outstanding claims and payments.
Petitioners urge the construction commissioner to finalize reports and declare the ditch completed. They seek cancellation of the uncollected thirty percent of original assessments, dissolution of liens on land titles, and a speedy termination of the proceeding to avoid further costs and delays.
Wilson Timmons known as Bud or Mr. Timmons from this area, suffered a severe farm accident Friday when his left hand caught in a plow near Logansport. The forefinger was amputated above the second joint and the middle finger was cut and bruised. Efforts to reattach the amputated part with adhesive tape were made but may fail.
The Tribune admits a misquote in a Tull's Department Store ad at Monon last week. The notice says 10 pounds of sugar were listed as 50 cents but should have shown 75 cents, and the paper takes responsibility, stating the error was not intentional by the advertiser.
Logan Wood of Rensselaer was here on business Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs Morris Moncel visit relatives in Streator Illinois. Mrs Cyrus Hubbell and Mrs Edward Garrigues traveled to Manon Saturday. Miss Mary Sidebottom visits brother John Sidebottom and family in southern Indiana. Mr and Mrs Avery Morrow of South Bend spent weekend with J T Morrow family. Harley Severns came from the south due to his father Orin Severns illness. Miss Velma Watson returns from Monon after visiting sister Mrs Willis Wolfe. Dick Ward of Lafayette and Joseph Robinson of Monon were guests of friends Sunday evening. Mr and Mrs Guy Drake of Bainbridge were guests over Sunday of George Moore and Mr and Mrs James Bailey west of town.
