The Pulaski County Democrats held a delegate convention in Winamac to nominate candidates for the November general election. Andy Galbreath was expected for treasurer, but Kenneth Clark won the nomination. Clarence Paul netted the surveyor post, James Linton won the first ballot for county commissioner, Frank Wittmer was nominated for clerk, J J Gilassar defeated rivals for auditor, Elgie Zellers earned the sheriff nomination on the second ballot, and Peter Lugenbill reported crop conditions affecting the region.
Otto Oren Hemphill a 20 year old Monon brakeman died at St Elizabeth hospital after injuries from a collision near Rensselaer. He was head brakeman on freight No 72 which struck a box car on the siding after a draw bar failed. Survived by five children and his father in Wolcott with a brother nearby. no widow.
George Gallagher a Monon brakeman was instantly killed when a fast Louisville Chicago passenger train rear collided with his freight train near Lowell. The caboose and four cars were destroyed. the track torn up over 150 feet. Gallagher was married and lived in Logansport.
