County threshing is advancing with oats and rye in poor condition. Rain delayed work briefly but fair weather may finish the season in a few days. Wheat grades vary from No 2 to No 3, oats are light and chaffy, rye is light but price holds with wheat. Overall corn condition is good with regional rain needs noted.
The county Tuberculosis Association, funded by Christmas seals, built an outdoor fresh air cottage at M. A. Buwa’s Beaver township home after Mrs. Buwa was diagnosed with early tuberculosis. Proper diet and timely treatment in such cottages can cure many cases, and the Buwas plan to travel south west in autumn for a milder winter climate.
Sunday games showed Star City over Monon 1 to 16 and Royal Center 4 to Winamac 1. Francesville beat Rensselaer 8 to 7. Parr defeated Reynolds 6 to 1. Various local residents and guests visited area towns this week including Knox, Battle Ground, Benton Harbor, Rensselaer, Francesville, Kewanna, Marion, Chicago, and Brookston with several trips for work and leisure.
Mrs Jat aged 60 of Jefferson township died suddenly Wednesday night after a period of illness. She leaves a husband two sons Charles and George and three daughters Mrs Allie Rusk Mrs Will Koebcke and Mrs Ernest Weltzin. Funeral was held at the residence Saturday afternoon with burial in the cemetery east of town.
Paul Von Tobel and family traveled to Fairbury Illinois for the funeral of Mrs Jacob Von Tobel who died after long illness at age 78. She was survived by a husband two sons and two daughters. The funeral and burial were held in Fairbury.
Orville Cheney, longtime resident, died in Chicago last Friday at age 61 from Bright's disease. His body was brought home Saturday for burial Sunday in the cemetery east of Francesville. Services were conducted by the Odd Fellows. The Cheneys moved from here to Scott, Ohio about nineteen years ago. Relatives who accompanied the body returned to Chicago Sunday afternoon.
Thomas Dimon, 67, died Friday in a Rensselaer hospital after a long illness. His body was returned to Gillam township for a Sunday funeral at Independence with burial in the local cemetery. A well known Gillam resident, he was active in the Masonic fraternity.
Wilford Lefler of Monticello is the evening guest of relatives in Francesville for a band concert. Ronald Timmons, also of Monticello, visited Francesville Tuesday evening. T J Tomlinson and daughter visit his Jerusalem Ohio parents. Gillam ball team meets Francesville seconds at Jack Turner’s Gillam next Sunday. Elston opened strong on the mound and Elston batted well for the locals. Clark, Engle, and Kru ger starred for the visitors as a late homer by Cap Clark sealed a 7 to 4 win in a game marked by strong batting and questionable umpiring.

A fire destroyed the Paquette store area and the William F. Ihne double house, with both residences saved mostly. The fire spread toward the adjacent schoolhouse across the street, igniting it and leaving 30 tons of coal smoldering on the ruins. Firefighters saved one adjoining residence and prevented further spread using chemicals from Rensselaer.
The Francesville band presents a concert program on Thursday July 21 1921 conducted by John W. Coon. Selections include Washington Post Eyes of Brown Fairy Tale Mignonette The Cotton Top Cincinnatius and Ain t We Got Fun with trombone solos and a melody of youth serenade.
W. S. Daniels of Knox was here on business Friday. Mr. and Mrs. A. Ty Patty and daughter have returned to Brandon Vermont. Miss Grace Thompson of Winamac was the guest of relatives here Friday.
