Francesville Chautauqua Dates Announced For August

Francesville schedules a four day Chautauqua from August 22 to 25 and calls a Tuesday July 25 public library meeting to organize finances. Signers on the contract are urged to attend and cover any possible deficit, with a long list of local supporters named.

Henry Boliger Injured While Drilling at Pinkamink Creek

Henry Boliger of this place was nearly killed last Monday when a 75 pound iron piece fell from a drilling machine at Pinkamink creek west of Francesville. He was unconscious for minutes, then taken home and is slowly recovering. If struck full force, fatal injury could have occurred.

Demonstration on Poultry Culling Held Near Francesville

The last culling demonstration in the area will be at W. R. Howatt poultry farm northeast of Francesville on Tuesday July 25 at 2 o clock. Refreshments will be served and poultry producers are invited to attend to learn culling techniques.

Willys-Overland Caravan Passes Through Town

Friday noon saw the Willys-Overland Caravan roll through. Miss Madge Jones visited Mr. and Mrs. Gus J. Daseke in Indianapolis this week. Tony Querry of Chicago spent Friday and Saturday visiting friends locally. Mrs. J. M. Goble hosted the Pythian Sister club Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Frank Rice and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Rice and their baby son traveled to Ann Arbor Michigan for a week’s visit with relatives. Mrs. Zora Burger and her Chicago son are visiting her sister Mrs. Charles Hubbard and Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Wise. Miss Ethel Buckels of Chalmers, visiting grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Coey, returned home Saturday.

Judge Truman F. Palmer Dies After Illness

Judge Truman F. Palmer, a prominent figure in Indiana's White and Cass counties judicial circuit from 1894 to 1906, died Sunday night at Home Hospital in Lafay ette from malaria and complications. He lay in state in Monticello before funeral services. Palmer was a 33rd degree Mason and member of Mural Temple, Nobles of Mystic Shrine, and Knights of Pythias.

George Allee Arrested for Moonshining Near Pulaski

George Allee, northeast of town, was arrested by Sheriff Frank Roepkey last Saturday afternoon near Pulaski while distributing moonshine he had distilled at his farm. The booze was seized and the still destroyed. He posted $2,500 bond for court appearance and faces charges of unlawfully selling, transporting and manufacturing liquors, plus carrying concealed weapons.

Gordon Players Open New Plays in Medaryville This Week

Mr. Wyewitt the Gordon Players manager announced in Medaryville that the company is presenting all new plays under canvas July 20 21 and 22. The current performances will not be seen when the troupe returns to Francesville for its engagement. Ladies are admitted free opening night.

Airplane Acrobat Fails to Deliver at Celebration
