High Prices For Jasper County Feeder Cattle

In Barkley township hungry for top Chicago market prices, Charles P Moody sold 1260 pound western two year old steers at 9.60 a hundred at Union Stock Yards, the highest Jasper county cattle price on record. Other loads fetched 8.85 7.75 and 7.60. Edward Randle, a noted feeder, contracted 30 day delivery steers at 9.75 a hundred, fifteen cents above Moody.

Michigan City Excursion Sunday to Michigan City

The Monon will operate a Sunday excursion to Michigan City on July 21. Train departs Indianapolis at 6 30 AM and arrives here at 10 00 AM, returns from the city at 6 30 PM. Round trip fare is 65 cents. Other ads promote hair nets, pills, ice cream freezers, and job openings for building wooden freight cars in Michigan City, Indiana.

Largest sheep shelter rising on Kelly ranch west of town

Work begun on a 1800 acre Kelly ranch structure to house 7000 head of sheep. The 94 by 512 foot building will have 400 windows, a cement floor, feed storage, and full provisions for sheep care. The project marks a major transformation of previously barren land into a major stock producing area west of town.

The law states that any person who knowingly allows Canada thistles to reach six inches on land owned or occupied or under control, or a road supervisor permitting the same along highways, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. Conviction carries a fine up to one dollar for the first offense and up to ten dollars for each subsequent offense.
