Balloon tragedy claims Beaver man killed at Phillips

Charley Shultz formerly of Beaver township died in Phillips Oklahoma when a balloon he helped ignite caught fire. He was lifted about 400 feet before the craft exploded and he dropped to his death. Witness A M Baughman notified relatives and the body shipped to Francesville for funeral services led by Rev Paul M Schroeder. Interment followed in German Evangelical cemetery Beaver. Shultz, 38, left surviving sisters and a brother. Meanwhile in Starke County, sixteen hoboes were rounded up. four jailed for vagrancy and sentenced to fourteen days to work on roads under sheriff and marshal supervision.
